PCA Engineering, Inc. provides a broad spectrum of cutting edge technical methods to evaluate and analyze your petroleum/chemical storage facilities, including:

  • API-653: For the inspection, repair, and modification of large above ground storage tanks.
  • STI-001-03: For the In-Service Inspection of shop fabricated storage tanks.
  • API 570: The Piping Inspection Code, which covers inspection, repair, alteration, and re-rating of piping systems.
  • API-510: The code covering inspection, repair, modification, and re-rating of unfired pressure vessels.

PCA Engineering, Inc. has Engineers on staff certified by API and/or STI to provide for a thorough evaluation of your equipment. The inspection services provided by PCA Engineering, Inc. are bolstered by our access to modern nondestructive testing technologies. These techniques include:

  •  Ultrasonic Testing: Through the use of high frequency sound, we can asses the remaining thickness of the wall of a pipe, tank, or vessel. A wall profile can be recorded and saved to a computer file, while general thickness data can be integrated into a computer spreadsheet to allow for evaluation. Ultrasound can also be used to asses materials, including metals and synthetics, for detrimental flaws.
  • Magnetic Flux Leakage Floor Scanning (MFL): This type of inspection can be used to evaluate large-area steel sheets for corrosion activity, including pitting and holes. The use of MFL technology increases the practical surface area that can be inspected in a given time period.
  • Dye Penetrant, Magnetic Particle, and Vacuum Box Testing: Provide a means to inspect welds, plate, and other assemblies for leaks and other surface/near surface indications.
  • Visual Inspection: The most important tool in any inspection, when combined with the experience of PCA’s Engineers and Technicians, provides for the primary evaluation of your equipment. A visual inspection is supplemented with state-of-the-art measuring devices, including laser technology, DGPS, and digital photography.
